Jefferson students come here!!!

Nursing Students General Students

Hey- I have a ton of questions for any students that currently attend the FACT program at Thomas Jefferson Univ in PA.. or went there in the past. Right now I'm trying to figure out where to live? Get an apt in philly? or commute about an 1 1/2 hrs away?

I know everyone goes to different hospitals for clinicals, but does anyone have any idea the farthest place they would assign a clinical? Is it crazy to commute?

Please.. anyone?!! I really need some advice! Thanks!

CB,

This is a concern for me as well. I had asked the following in a thread and this is the response I got -- although it concerns , as opposed to TJ, it might give you a better idea as to what you may be facing:

Can anyone offer any details on how clinicals, for the most part, are set up?

For example:

1) Are the sites spread out throughout Philly, or in a centralized locale?

2) Do you need a vehicle to get to these sites, or is there nearby public transportation?

3) Do they (clinicals) consistently begin at 6:45 AM?

4) Are there clinical sites in, or near, Lancaster, York, and Harrisburg?

The reason I ask is because I will be commuting by car, or train, on a daily basis to do this program.

1. The sites are spread out in Philadelphia, New Jersey and the Philadelphia suburbs. One quarter I had to do a gero clinical west of the city and then drive and hour to jersey to prep for the next day. Bleah.

2. Yes and sometimes.

3. No - this is up to the clinical instructor. Ususally 6:30 was the norm for me. But that was before they started the night and weekend clinicals, which you'll have with the ACE program.

4. No, but there are some in the western suburbs. A friend commuted from lancaster and she was in my new jersey clinicals. Go figure.
