We have an IV Team but everytime you page them they would tell you they are too busy to come. Yet you see them sitting for hours in the cafeteria.

With today's cut backs and budget crunches alot of hospitals have dissolved the IV teams. What I have found visiting hundreds of hospitals in multiple states is that hospitals that still do have IV teams have cut them back to day shift only. They also have turned over starting PIV's back to the floor/unit clinicians and have IV team's focus on inserting PICC's and maintaining extended dwell catheter (dressing changes etc).
Not secific to CA but a little information on IV teams

Dear Dknunges,
I am interested in starting an IV access company so your response about the dissolution of IV teams interested me. I am trying to figure out who needs IV access but does not have their own team of people to provide this service. Do you know any companies that only provide IV access (no therapy)?
