ISO research help re DNRs

Hi,

I'm new here. I was hoping I could get some help researching DNR orders and mental health. I've found some info but I have gaps in my research. Any help with the following questions would be greatly appreciated.

Can a patient get a DNR with a history of mental illness?

Are there any stipulations to getting a DNR with a history of mental illness if there is no life threatening condition in existence at the time the dnr is applied for?

Can a dnr be revoked under any circumstance if there is no life threatening illness present when the dnr is requested?

If the family and friends of the dnr recipient disagree with the patient's decision to not be resuscitated in the event that his or her heart stops, can they get a court to overrule the dnr in an attempt to save the patient's life?

What effect does a dnr have if the patient's heart stops due to unnatural causes?

If anyone reading this could lend me his or her expertise on this issue and any insight on questions I may have unintentially omitted due to lack of background knowledge on this issue, I would be forever thankful.

Sincerely,

J
