Is WSSU's ABSN program very competitive?

U.S.A. North Carolina

I just found out that I'm not able to apply to NC A&T's program because I failed a stats class like 7 years ago. I'm crushed. That was my #1 choice. Ugh, so now I'm looking at other options. NC does not have much to choose from, so now I'm kind of freaking out.

I graduated from my university with a 3.65 GPA (however, taking into account the two community college I attended, I only have a 3.3 cumulative GPA. That doesn't include my prerequisites that I'm currently taking, though). I am also currently working as a CNA.

Do you think I should have a good chance of getting in? I have no backup plan as of now. :(

Actually, I calculated my cumulative GPA wrong. I just did it right, and my cumulative GPA is higher than I though! 3.42 (not including my prerequisites which I have A's in so far). That's not bad, right?

Hello. I am currently in the program and my undergrad GPA was a 3.3, but I got a 4.0 in my prerequisites (micro, anatomy and phys, etc). You only need a 2.7, I believe. I was a CNA too, but there wasn't anywhere to add that on the application. If I were you, I would email Dr. Holland with your unofficial transcripts and he will evaluate them, and let you know where you stand. The next application will open Aug 2018, and it's quick snd easy to fill out. You'll hear something around middle of October if you got in. Have you looked into central, unc Chapel hill, duke, western carolina, Queens and ecu all have accelerated programs. Can you retake the Stats class? Let me know if you have any other questions! I

Also, I forgot to add...about 200 people apply for each cohort, but they only accept 45. It's not all about grades because there were plenty of people with exceptional GPAs posting in the forum, but they did not get accepted. :-/

Thanks so much for your help! What do you think made your application stand out? Why do you think you were chosen over other people with better GPAs?

I really don't know. One girl in my class said she attached a sheet stating she was a CNA and other extracurricular activities, but I didn't. I would email Dr. Holland and ask what would help you to be competitive.
