Just want to know if anyone has retaken courses to get a higher gpa to get into a nursing program. Will it hurt your chances of being accepted?

I would be weary of retaking a lot of classes. It's one thing retaking a class that you got an F in; totally different to retake a class that you got a B in to try to get an A the second time. Some schools place a limit on the amount of "grade replacing" students can do. You will have to call your school and see if they have something like this is place. I am in a traditional BSN program. Our university only allows 3 grade replacements for the entire degree. Our nursing program only allows you to retake one class, and this counts as one of the 3 courses you are allowed to retake. Not sure how your school is but I would be very careful about remaking classes that you don't have to. With that being said, I know GPA is a very important component of how you get into nursing school so I understand your thought process here. Best advice, would probably be to talk to an academic advisor at your school.

I'd agree with the other poster. You should check directly with the program you want to attend because every school is different. The BSN program that I was accepted to only allows you to retake 1 science course and 1 non science course and you also get penalized on your application and lose points for retaking classes. So you should really contact the nursing dept.
