U.S.A. Arizona

Published

I recently moved to AZ (a little over a week ago) and I start a position at JCLNM monday. I am having a hard time finding any public transportation that goes north of deer vally or happy valley anyone have any suggestions or know of anything?!?!?!?!:(

See i dont even know what part of the valley i'm in!!!!

renaudd,

First of all.... Welcome to the Valley of the Sun!

Try this link "Deer Run". It runs every half hour or so along Happy Valley & Pinnacle Peak Rd all the way to John C Lincoln (Deer Valley). Best of all - - - according to the website IT'S FREE! For this particular transit only.

Regular Valley Metro services can pick you up at other bus stops once you get further South. (See this Valley Metro) for schedules & fees.

My brother takes the "Circulator" often and usually rides his bicycle to the circulator stops to avoid getting overheated.

Not sure if you're new to AZ or come from a cooler climate, but please hydrate all day.:angryfire

Hope this helps!

ps- Where did you graduate from?

Yes, I was going to mention that I see the "circulator" running by my house. That looks more like a shuttle than the actual city bus but it is a part of the public transit. It stops at all of the bus stops. There has to be some route that will get you to where you need to go. Do you live up this way(meaning, near JCL)?? Sounds like determined 2succeed had some great info for you!

Determined- thank you so much for the tips! I moved from a much cooler environment actually, i'm from Vermont...so this weather is extremely hot to me!! I called my family this evening and it was 61 degrees outside (thats even cold for Vermont this time of the year). Yes I quickly learned hydration is key out here...we recently went on a long ride on a motorcycle up through Prescott and then to Jerome....somewhere along the line I got dehydrated and it snuck up on me very quickly. However I do hear that the winters here are wonderful :).

Sassie- Actually I live about half an hour from JCL-North Mountain. I would love to use public transportation for many different reasons...we'll see if I can make it work, i'll keep you both posted!

Thank you again!

*On a different note, do either of you know of any good Jazz clubs in the area?

Sorry determined I just realized that I didn't answer your question as to where I went to school. I graduated from Norwich University in Vermont. It's a private military school, actually the first founded military school in the United States even before West Point. Very small campus, close knit community and such. I can honestly say nursing school was one of the hardest things i've done in my life, but totally worth it.

Are you in nursing school, or a nurse?

I'm a nursing school hopeful!

Applying everywhere & can't wait to get started :)

I apologize I don't know of any jazz clubs in town... checkout azcentral.com - I think they have an entertainment section there.

Be selective! Make sure you do your research into the institution, the more clinical experience they can offer you the better. The college I graduated from is known for having their students in the clinical atmosphere all four years. It definately gave me an advantage over other students that only had two years in the hospital. However, at the time I was applying (only four years ago) it was easier to get into nursing school, so I understand where you are coming from. Have you taken any electives at community colleges? Even if you dont get into a nursing program this semester or year there are courses you can take to get you ahead. I took summer courses even when I was in nursing school to make my load a little lighter, yes it isn't much fun to spend your summer in school but it made my life easier!

On a different note, not having much luck with the public transportation system around here. Looks like I can take a few different buses up north (1hr 20 min!) and get myself within 10 mi. roughly but i'm still going to have to take a cab the rest of the way.
