Hello all,
I have a couple questions regarding the pathway to becoming a CRNA. The following is my current plan:
Is this an acceptable direction to follow? I understand that some suggest to just dive into a BSN program, however they are very difficult to get into, and very expensive. Im confident that I can get into a RN program, thereby launching my path now, as opposed to waiting for a BSN or accelerated BSN program.
Please let me know what you think, and if you have any tips. Im just worried that CRNA programs will not favor the RN-to-BSN path.
Thank you in advance for your responses!
Cheers.

That path is just fine. In fact, it shows determination in goal attainment. The CRNA programs need you to have a BSN. They don't care how you got it (accredited, of course). Then, the ICU experience is mandatory, as well.
You have a plan, so stick to it and good luck!

If you have a particular CRNA program in mind, why not meet with them to discuss your goals?
I met with my local (read: only choice, since I can't move) CRNA school while just taking pre-reqs for my RN program! They were happy to meet with me, warm and welcoming. They also made it seem much more manageable- and faster- than I had expected or assumed. I was given suggestions and options I hadn't considered for my RN-to-BSN program, suggestions for the ICU experience, and told to keep in touch and send my unofficial transcripts periodically. I was also told that I could consider them as another advisor, and that if I need support or have questions while in nursing school I shouldn't hesitate to contact them! In short, I feel held and valued and as though a place is waiting for me as soon as I am ready. I also know things such as exactly what GPA, GRE scores, O-Chem and work experience that particular school is looking for.
Believe me, it makes focusing on what I'm doing now- Micro and A&PII- a lot easier, because I have my eyes on the prize.
