Is it too late to apply for a year-round externship?

Published

Hi everyone,

I'm a nursing student entering my 3rd semester this fall (I graduate May 2012). I want to apply for a nursing externship, but I'm not sure if it's too late. I'm trying to decide between doing an externship or the honors program at my school.

Does a year-round externship mean that I need to work for a full year, or does it mean that the application period is open year-round? I've looked at deadlines for these externships, and most of them are sometime in October. If I get accepted, I wouldn't start working until January 2012, but then I graduate in May 2012. I don't know if I should bother applying if I will be ruled out because of my graduation date.
