Is there a free CNA course available in KANKAKEE AREA?

Published

I'm just starting out in the nursing field. I have 97 credit hours from the University of Texas but I was not learning anything interesting. I'd like to move into the medical field but need to see if there are any organizations in town(Kankakee, BOURBONNAIS, Bradley area) that might offer the CNA course for free or at a reduced cost? Kankakee Community College I think offers it at a 69 dollar per credit hour basis which would make the 8 credit hour course cost 525. Please Advice anyone.

P.S. Future plan is to become an anesthesiologist or CRNA

Specializes in med/surg/ortho.

I"m in your area and am graduating from KCC with my RN this Friday:) While I don't know about any free CNA classes, I do know that there is a state program for people who are unemployed or who's spouse becomes unemployed (even for a short period) called WIA. WIA will pay for everything from books to uniform to stethoscope, the physical to get into the program, etc. The program at KCC is fantastic, and you will really learn a LOT! Good luck!
