Interviewing for Postpartum NA. Any advice?

I am interviewing for a evening shift nursing assistant position in a postpartum unit. Anyone have advice on how to ace the interview?

My current NA experience is at a senior living home, and I've been volunteering at a hospital (various positions: nursing unit volunteer, peds playroom volunteer, and surgery lounge concierge) for about 2 yrs.

Hi! Ive been a PCT in pp for almost a year now. My advice is go to your interview with lots of smiles and a good attitude. Stress what a hard worker and fast learner you are, and how you can be a big help to the nurses so that they can spend more quality time doing what they need to do.

My day starts with vitals on everyone (we have 17 rooms and Im the only day shift tech), then I pass linens and get the moms up out of bed or in the shower so that I can make their beds. In my free time the nurses usually need me to do stuff like take pt's to the restroom/shower, this will include peri care teaching and C-section wound care. Some pt's will have foleys, and almost all will have IV's the first post partum day. In my down time I stock rooms, take pt's out who discharge-break down rooms, set up rooms, make folders, etc.

I love working in pp and the nurses I work with are awesome, however, in PP there is limited use of nursing skills. For example, if a pt needs a IV started the nurses I work with kinda freak out because they aren't used to starting the IV's, it is normally already done when the pt comes over from L&D. So they will call someone over to start it for them, lol.

You will do great on your interview, just stress what a big help you will be to everyone; they love that!!
