Interviewing for PCT maternity postion, NEED advice on what to say to get the job

I applied for a PCT postion at my hospital, if you meet qualifications, you get an interview. Of course everyone applies for this! So how do impress them so they know this is what my area of interest is? I want to know what issues/areas are important. I have good common sense, am maternal (always have been), have a passion:redbeathe:heartbeat:heartbeat for this. Want to be a mat. nurse and lactation consultant then do perinatal outreach nurse later down the road. I really need to give this my all. If i did my best and don't get it, i can accept that. But i want to have a great chance. I am also in LPN school and am going to go for my RN

Specializes in OB, Occupational Health.

Hey there! I'm a scrub tech in OB, with overlapping CNA duties. Just thought I'd give my two cents.

It sounds like you have the technical skills, and certainly the drive. Highlight your interest in the field of obstetrics and your desire to continue learning.

OB can be hard to break into simply because the interest is so high, so if you don't get the position, don't think it's because you are lacking. I know for any tech position posted on my unit, there are upwards of ten applicants.

Good luck!
