mabuhay to everyone!

i would like to know if there is a college/university you can recommend that offers a refresher course for inactive nurses. i would like to practice nursing again after being inactive for more than five consecutive years. i have read in our pna that they require that refresher course for cases like mine.

i would love to have that lesson and training again so that i can be competent and qualified in this very competetive world!:nurse:

Hello, everyone!

I am also an inactive nurse for 2 years and a half now. I am not sure if hospitals now here in the Philippines will hire inactive nurses without undergoing training or volunteer work since there are lots of new graduate nurses nowadays. I was working as OR nurse for almost 10 yrs abroad. I had to stop working just to have a child ( since I got married at a high-risk age!) and now I am taking care of my son. I really would like to go back to nursing profession, but teaching is not my real type. Can anyone help me? Any hospital you could recommend that would hire nurses in their field of specialty?

Thanks.

I agree with Daly City these are needed skills. In our refresher program we not only review how tos but, how not to and why (evidence based practice). We have pedi and adult manikins for skills lab practice and use the new equipment and supplies including wound vacs, etc. Then, they go to various clinical sites for the hands on and putting it all together. Also, the foreign graduates must do a verbal and written English equivalency exam not in our state. We also provide direction to the nursing on career choices to ensure a successful and safe return.
