Police check for IEN need help!!!!! please!!!

I am an USA trained IEN who passed all requirements to be licensed in Ontario. I just received a letter stating that the only missing component for my application is a "police check". I have been visiting Canada in and out for the past 2years, but I live and work in the USA. My husband is Canadian and I am waiting to be registered first before i make a definitive move. I have been trying to contact CNO for the past 3days but it always says "this person is not accepting calls at the moment. Try sending them a text...". I NEED to know what kind of Police check they want. Is it from a local police enforcement in Canada or USA? is it the same as an FBI fingerprint check?? I'm confused please help!
