the Intern...(this funny)

When I was in Nursing School...one of my Clinic rotations was the ER. I was the only one of my fellow students accepted to return after a 2 week stint.

This one Saturday, there was 4 RNs, the Respiratory Therapist (who also did EKGs on the weekends - short staffed), the Intern, and myself the SVN. We had a case come that was critical...this man needed to have a Cardio Verison done. The Intern, a proud young man at the age of 30 or so...yelling out orders to the RNs as I watched. Then he turns to the Respiratory Therapist and yells " I need an EKG stat!" The funny thing was the Respiratory Therapist said in a calm collected fashion...."Do you want that on room air Doctor?" The RNs and I were laughing so hard, and the Intern turned to the Respiratory Therapist and blurred out... "NO, I want it at 2.5 liters of O2...what the hell do you think?" To this day...when I see a young Intern roaming the halls or a Respiratory Therapist... I just laugh to myself and go on about my day... :chuckle I am now a LVN and very proud of the profession I am in, as well as the other staff members that make up the medical team.

Just thought I would share that with you all who have been there, done that, and wear the teeshirt so proudly like myself.....
