Specializes in Emergency Medicine.

We need some more information to help- are you an RN? What experience do you have? In order to get a certification you need experience to past the test.

Specializes in Emergency Medicine.

Also, what do you mean by cardiac hospital? Most hospitals have different levels of cardiac care. How did you "try in vain?"

Thank you for your reply. Yes I am RN and have exposure in clinic device clinics but currently i am working in long term facility. I DID TRYfor coumodin clinic and interviewed for cardiac lab but was not successful. I really want to be cardiac nurse.

Specializes in ICU-my whole life!!.

You need to get away from long term facility and get into a hospital environment. This is just my opinion. Once in the hospital setting, you have greater chances to network and visit the area you are interested in.

Again, just my opinion. Good luck.

Thank you. I will try to get into hospital but it is also not an easy way I applied several hospital before taking job from long term. Hopefully Will be able to get into hospital with some experience of long term facility. I appreciate your advice.

You'll definitely need to have ACLS certification, a lot of nurses in those fields have various Critical Care certifications like TNCC or CCRN. I was able to get an old book they use for those classes to read and look through. It gives you a pretty good idea about what those certifications entail. Since you love cardiology take a Basic EKG course and then a 12 lead EKG course some hospitals offer it.

Getting into a hospital setting and looking for cross training programs or opportunities to change to the unit/area you desire.

You could see if the hospitals in your area have monthly seminars or grand rounds you can go sit in on to learn more about those areas too, plus those are great ways to start meeting people in the field you're interested in.
