Insurance Nursing assessment jobs

Published

I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction-

I have been a nurse for a couple years on an orthopedic floor. Looking for supplementation for my income. I have been hearing about nurses doing assessments for insurance companies.

can some one tell me what the going rate is for doing that and

how do I contact the companies to find out if they need this service.

I am located in Western NY and could easily offer to go to Buffalo area or Rochester areas for insurance companies.

Do you know anyone in claims? My background is claims before nursing and we used nurse reviewers all the time. Its a really nice way to make some extra money. You do not need to travel. The files should come to you electronically. My suggestion would be to contact any local claims operations in the area and see if they are looking for a reviewer....also do not discount attorneys. They are always looking for a less expensive way to get a review. Doctors are very expensive. Do you have an LLC set up? Do you have letter head you can send out?

You could become a paramedical examiner. They collect urine, blood, ht, wt, ekg, vitals and complete a mini health history on pt for insurance company. Google companies like: ExamOne, EMSI, and visit the following website: http://paramedicalexaminer.net/ You can set your own schedule, and make extra money anywhere from $15 - $40 depending on the depth of exam needed.

You would complete the exams at either the pt's home, the pt's business, or at the examination company's office. You would be an independent contractor.

I hope this helps.

I was browsing allnurses and I found this thread. Thank you medicpapriest for this info. This sounds interesting. I'm already an independent contractor doing health screenings, but it would be great to do something different.

I do not have my LLC, I have been researching the steps for that. No I do not know of any claims operations. I can easily make a letter head. Can you point me to any specific claims operation to send letter to, also I would just write a letter offering to be a claims reviewer??
