Hi friends, I've never made my own posting here before so I apologize if this isn't the right forum.
As the title suggest I am stuck between leaving my part time inpatient cicu position for an outpatient cardiology clinic. I'm currently on dayshift and part time and thinking about giving up working 2 days a week is really hard for me. I love cicu but, over bedside ? I feel crazy for even considering leaving a 2 day a week job.
CICU, as with any ICU is really stressful and comes with a lot of its own problems, but some family members have told me that if I can deal with stress for two days then it's worth it ?
The clinic is actually connected to my current hospital, so drive time is the exact same (30 mins) but of course I'd be driving there more often. My day shift position inpatient is 7AM-7PM ( really more like 13 hr LOL) where as the outpatient is 7AM-3:30PM if we do 8hr shifts or 7AM-5:30PM for when we do 10hr shifts.
The outpatient clinic seems great. I was told in the interview that it's mainly 4 10s, but depending on staffing that at times we'd have to do 5 8s. No weekends or holidays. My husband and I are wanting to try for a baby soon, but having some concerns regarding working 4-5 days a week with a baby vs working 2 days currently with 4-5 days off.
The only pay difference is I will lose a pretty good ICU differential if I leave.
Would really appreciate any advice. Did anyone leave bedside and regret it? Things you like or don't like about clinic outpatient?
thanks!
