Info about Bunkerhill CC

Could anybody tell me about Bunker Hill CC? I understand their classes start every 8 weeks but they do have a waiting list for the RN program. Any idea how long that is? Also, could anybody recomend a good LPN program incase that wait ends up being awhile.

Thank you for any info you got!

BHCC has a really good RN program. I graduated from their program last year and so far everyone in my class has passed the boards. It's tough, but all nursing programs are. You are required to test into the program and I believe you must maintain an 80% this year to remain in their RN program. The only downfall with going to a 2 year school is finding a job with an ADN. Most Boston hospitals require BSNs, although a lot of my friends have found jobs at major hospitals in and around the city. Good luck.

I'm about to graduate from BHCC and I think it's a great program. BHCC takes applications and then ranks them based on criteria such as TEAS test scores and pre-requisite grades. They offer seats to the highest ranking students until all seats are filled. If you don't get in, you can reapply next semester.

LPN programs are hard to find since most are being phased out. I believe there is a program at Quincy College.

Good Luck!

HI

I'm a grad of the BHCC program back in 2002..I was in the evening portion..now they have day, evening and weekend programs. BHCC is difficult to get into b/c of the number of applications. and its a good program. I remember the exams were tough..but they prepare you well for the NCLEX..the pass rate (back then) were very high. I eventually went to grad school..and I still think the BHCC exams were just as difficult

Also even though I had a ADN..I was still hired by MGH. ( I have a BA in another field)..so don't let that sway you from applying to big teaching hospitals. Also the caliber of my other students I think are higher than other community college programs..some had degrees in other fields..some from the military.. i knew of one grad who had an MBA before going to BHCC!
