Indiana NICU jobs

Hi all-

I will be graduating this May with my ASN. I recently applied to 8 NICU positions at a few different hospitals in Indy, Ft. Wayne, and Lafayette. I didn't know what my chances are of getting one of these positions "on my own?" My brother was born at 24 weeks almost 3 years ago and he was at Lutheran in Ft. Wayne. I'm curious if I should contact some of his old nurses and see if that can get me any farther. I only went into nursing to go back into the NICU, it was an amazing experience from a family stand point and I can't even imagine how rewarding it will be when I'm helping those families. I will have a position in NICU, I guess my question is just when? How strict is our hospitals on experience only? Or will they consider new grads? Thanks in advance for any comments :)
