In need of help funding my BSN education

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Hi everyone,

My name is Jeremy Magana and I was recently accepted to study nursing this summer at Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. I have been in college non stop since Fall of 2007. During this time I have been able to earn a certification and work professionally as a phlebotomist, intern at St. Jude's Medical Center Department of Community Services, and graduate California State University, Fullerton with Eta Sigma Gamma Health Science Honors. I currently volunteer at Queen of the Valley Hospital in California and shadow a physician at a primary care where I work with local PA and NP students and teach them the aspects of family medicine during their family practice rotations. Since graduating in 2015, I have also been taking prerequisite classes at UCLA extension in Westwood, California.

Through my academic career, I've had many opportunities and experiences that has reaffirmed my ambitions of becoming a nurse. With an overall goal of becoming a nurse practitioner, my dreams became reality the day I got accepted into NEU's accelerated BSN program with a start date of May 8th, 2017. While this has been a blessing to my mother and I, the funding for my nursing school education has felt seemingly unattainable. From the logistics of moving and establishing a place to live in Boston, tuition, books and school supplies, scrubs, and cost of living out of California, etc. have left a financial burden on my mother and I to find ways to fund my dream.

With the student debt I have already accumulated from my undergraduate years, to the difficulties of looking for a co-signer to take out private loan for my education at NEU, and FAFSA only covering a quarter of my expenses of program, I am left with no choice but to reach out to the community of AllNurses to ask for your help.

The money donated today will go directly to funding my expenses of attending nursing school at NEU. I have worked ten years to finally achieve my dream of getting into nursing school, from junior college and now in graduate school. Each dollar donated will help me take a step closer to achieving my dream of working as a nurse and one day as a nurse practitioner.

Funding will go directly towards:

Tuition

School supplies

Books

Scrubs

Medical supplies

Moving expenses from California to Massachusetts

Living expenses in Massachusetts

Etc.

Thank you again for your time and consideration,

Jeremy
