Specializes in school/residence for disabled.

I'm not sure what I am looking for. I worked for 10 years as a :nurse:nurse in school/residential facility for developmentally disabled children. My job requirements ranged from medication administration and injury care and assessment to seizure monitoring. I also worked as a home visiting nurse with similar children. I have not practiced other nursing skills since nursing school. I am now looking to get back out there with my youngest child going to kindergarten:bluecry1:. It seems there are not many options for LPN's with the limited skills that I have. I was hoping for a school setting. My old job pays:twocents: horrible so that is not an option. I need benefits and I am looking into brushing up and catching up on my nursing skills. Any advice? I live in long island on the south shore. If anybody has any ideas or knowledge of what courses and certifications I should get, please tell me. I was also considering getting IV certified and getting into home visiting but I hear that is exclusive to RN's as well. Benefits are a must so going back for my RN would be a slow process. So I need to know what options there are for LPN's. Thanx, Josie
