this is a question for my research class, which is one of my pre-reqs.
what are some [color=#006666]outstanding researchers in your field, and what is the focus of their work?
i started randomly searching through nursing journals, and found some in geratric nursing, but i don't really know who the "big ones" are. i'm not hung up on geriatric nursing research, i just went to gn first becuase it is an very open-ended question and i currently work in ltc.
can anyone drop some names to get me started?
i know florence nightengale of course, but anything more modern?

I think you started off your search really well. Go to the journals that specialize in research in your field of interest. Skim back over the last 3-5 years and see whose names keep coming up -- not only as the author of current studies, but also who names are cited by other scholars. The "biggest names" will usually be those of people whose work is used by other researchers as a foundation for their own work.
You might also look at some textbooks in geriatrics and/or other non-research books and articles to see whose research those authors cite.
