I'm Stumped

Ok, the condensed version...

This past month I've had 2 4th grade girls fake getting their first period as a way to get out of class and possibly be sent home.

I am not sure how to proceed. I do not want to embarrass either one of them, but I feel it should be addressed. Both girls will try anything to get out of class.

What would you do?

Clueless called it "surfing the crimson wave" ...

4th graders are my frequent flyers. What sucks if the teacher doesn't allow them to come see me then the teachers could get into trouble if the students are seriously hurt.

Same here! They ALL went on a 4 hour field trip last week and it was HEAVENLY! I saw about 15 kids the whole day, and 10 of those are my med kids. Coincidence?

7th grade boys and 8th grade girls.

Pass the Grown Up Drinks, please.

Yep, when I worked middle school, it was definitely 8th grade girls. All they had to say to their male teachers was "period," and the males would be like, "Here's your pass to the nurse!"

We have a great male teacher at my school with a MS-aged daughter (who does not attend the school). The teen girls will ask him for a pass for a stomachache, and he will quietly reach for the first aid kit I stock in the classroom with feminine supplies and ask "pad or tampon?" ;)

Get a bunch of women together and the conversation can get pretty wild. Get a bunch of women nurses together and the conversation hits the stratosphere. And that's with no alcohol involvement! Men never do this.

Have you ever seen the movie the Shining? Remember the scene with the elevator doors opening?

Ha! But men contemplate things that women never do. IE: recently someone (inexplicably) asked me which disney prince I would most want to be with. I thought for a moment and then picked one pretty randomly. To keep it interesting, we asked every male who entered the office that day which disney princess they would want to be with most and EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM had an answer in a split second and admitted that it was not the first time they had considered the question. An interesting little survey.
