I don't know about you guys but I'm sick of bed management playing God. Just because I happen to work on a Med/surg unit it doesn't mean we get all types of patients specially patients inappropriate to our floor. We alway get dumped on by bed management. Pt with Ca? Lets put them in 6T, doesn't matter that the oncology floor only has 15 patients and they're better trained at handling this type of patient. How about acute MI? Give it to 6T, ignore the fact that we have a regional heart center, even if the patient needs a drip. Hip fracture? Don't bother the ortho floor, they only have 3 nurses and and 6T has 4. Since when did Bed Management become involved with staffing issues? I'm sick of them, and from what I understand, they're just clerks. Not even RNs. So who are they to decide which patient goes with which unit? I already went off on my supervisor one time because I was going to get that patient with Acute MI. I'm damned if I'm going to let a bunch of clerks cause me to lose my license because because they want to play god. Just 5 minutes to curse each and everyone of them is all I ask. :angryfire :angryfire :angryfire
