I'm looking for a Healthcare Spanish course

U.S.A. New York

Published

I am a student nurse with one more year of my BSN program. I speak a little bit of spanish and am interested in learning more in order to improve care with Spanish speaking patients. I dont want to travel to another country and I dont want an online only class.

Any recommendations for a good course in the NYC area?

Gracias!

I heard there is one coming up at Beth Israel Continuing education, it's gonna start June 1st and will be every monday night for 7 weeks..

Good luck

Hola!

I am also a nursing student in NYC and I stumbled on this thread b/c I'm looking for a Spanish Medical Terminology course as well. I took Spanish in elementary school through college and lived in Mexico for almost a year so I am comfortable conversing in Spanish but I am looking to build my vocabulary in Spanish medical terminology. I was doing research in an ER last year and was flagged down by physicians needing Spanish translation. I was OK doing it, but I would like more guidance in it.

I am wondering if anyone has taken that Beth Israel course. what is it like? Is it mainly for students who are beginners or is there a course also for students who already speak Spanish and just want some medical terminology?

I haven't had much luck finding any courses geared towards ppl who already speak Spanish so I am thinking i might have to go back to Mexico or another Spanish-speaking country to perhaps take Medical terminology with the native speakers who want to become medical professionals. But i'd certainly prefer going to a class here since I will be in school for another year!

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!!
