Im day shift RN, wife just became RN, we have 2 small kids

Hi, just wanted to share here and maybe get advice from people that is/ or were on the same boat.

i am a RN, working 12 hrs day shift 3 days a week.

We have a 3 year old and a 1 year old. We live in NY.

wife just passed nclex-rn.

now im not sure of what set up to do.

is it better if

1)we work the same shift and just have a baby sitter on those days that we work together?

2) one works night shift so that someone is always at home? (Although we might not see each other often and the one coming from night shift might be very tired to keep up with kids in the morning)

3) have her work in a nursing home and have a 5day 8hr work shift? That way we only need baby sitter 3 days of 8hrs and we still take care of our own kids most of the time?

would like to know how you guys worked it out. :)

Where does your wife want to work? Where can she realistically find work? I'd start there.

Unless you guys are really strapped for cash, I'd avoid the alternate shifts arrangement. That's really tough on a relationship.

I'd also add that daycare isn't a bad thing. My little guy likes being around the other children. Whatever the arrangement, you guys will still be the parents raising your kids.
