Illinois nursing program--Chicago western suburbs, single mom

Published

Hi All! I need some advice. I'm a single mom (three kids) from the western Chicago suburbs and I'm not sure which route to take to get my BSN. I have a BA in English with a teaching certificate, but would like to get a nursing degree. I need a flexible program, online courses would be great, although I know not all can be, esp. with clinicals. What is my best bet? Begin at a community college then transfer to a BSN program? What are some reputable schools in the Chicagoland area? Thanks in advance!

Hi, I am also in the west suburbs. Two programs that I know of for sure that have online curriculums are Olivet Nazarene Nursing Schools in Illinois, Masters in Nursing Degree | Olivet Nazarene University, and Chamberlain Nursing School, Earn a Nursing Degree Online or On-site | Chamberlain. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 2007 and now am beginning an ASN-RN program at Triton College in Melrose park. I was accepted to Olivet however the pricetag was to steep. I decided on taking the community college route as it is much more affordable to earn RN certification. I will enter a BSN completion program afterwards at a savings. You should begin a dialogue with different counselors to see which program might be best for you. If you decide to go the ASN route then there is College of Dupage http://www.cod.edu/programs/nursing/index.aspx, Morton College http://www.morton.edu/academics/aas.asp?nav_id=a4_1, and Triton College http://www.triton.edu/Home/ . Just to name a few.
