IHS Background checks- info please?

So, I am in the process of applying through IHS, and I was wondering of anyone can give me the scoop on what their background check/forms process is like

I do not have anything in my background I am worried about, but last year I went through the hiring process at the VA only to have my offer, along with five others I was initially hired with retracted ( we were hired as a pool of ten and at the last minute the DON decided she wanted different/more qualifications)

The forms required were a giant headache, so should I but gearing up for something similar with IHS or is it not as bad? I estimate I spent somewhere around 25-30 hours of online forms and paperwork for the VA
