I would like to ask if anyone have used IERF in the past and had to apply for a Visa Screen Certificate through CGFNS. I called CGFNS and was inquiring about it and the lady on the other line seemed doesn't know the answer to my question (she paused for long silence, and uttered " Uhmm, I am not sure, why don't you apply and they might be able to tell you by then...) Since I have applied through IERF and reported qualified on the equivalency, I am wondering am I still has to go to the process of having all my credentials sent to CGFNS to be evaluated again even another third party have done this? Do I need the VSC? from what I have read in the past even Canadians are needing this or am I wrong on this?
I don't need the Visa Screen yet but I wanted to get ahead of myself when the time comes I will need it. The school where I graduated was so slow in sending my OTR and documents to IERF and I don't feel I want to do this again. Anyone have experience the process above? Thanks in advance.

Hi I worked in the US for about 10 years....I'm a Canadian Nurse.......Yes I had to do the Visa Screen with CGFNS.....It's pretty much a money grab..... But if you want to work in the US you have to jump through the hoops. They tried to get me to write the TOFEL exam which is an English exam..... I had to send proof that my school was not in Quebec ( French speaking nursing schools) I had issues with the CGFNS and when I called them no one really knew what to do....I never did get a straight answer.....Paying the fee seemed to do the trick. It was like a kindergarten transcript or something like that that they had requested....stupid I know.... I don't even remember where that was, we moved lots when I was a kid.....
All I can say is once you are in, you are in.....it is a lot of money and time........ but very worth it
Thanks silvercatinatree,
I feel the same when I was talking to that lady on the phone, she doesn't know and advice me to apply and stated I will know the answer by then, lol. What a rip off. If this will be the case, I wish I have never applied to IERF. I just don't like to go to same process I had with my school. Lots of follow ups with the people involved signing your documents and sending the paper to third party credentialing body. That's ridiculous for them for you to take TOEFL when your transcripts already from Canada. Indeed, money talks. I might end up selling my house then with all this fees, lol. This whole Quebec thing too, Quebec should make themselves another country as this affect us too. Lol. Too much politics involved. Arghh.
