IEN seeking advice for additional literature to pass CRNE

Published

I am an RN from the United States and have been practicing for 12 years. I live in Toronto now and will be sitting for the CRNE on June 2nd. I have ordered and reviewed the Crne prep guide and will be taking the CRNE readiness test soon. I have also read the compendium as suggested. I don't feel like I got a lot out of the book because I have forgotten so much maternity, psych, L&D, Peds, etc.. and I do not have my books any longer to refer to. I only wanted to order one more book (which will be closest to the material needed for the CRNE) and wasn't sure which one to pick from : Lippincott's CRNE Prep Guide, Mosby's Prep guide for Canadian RN Exam, or Mosby's Comprehensive Review for Canadian RN Exam. I have read mixed reviews for each of the above books. Does anyone have any advice? I would like to order a book as soon as possible since I'm running out of time. I was hoping that one of the books would be a better choice as far as psychosocial or community health nursing was concerned and I wanted to make sure that it was also reflective of the compendium. Thanks so much!

If you're looking for "the better choice as far as psychosocial or community health nursing was concerned", Lippincott would be the way to go. Be aware that it's not a "review book" but a "questions and rationales" book.

Hi Jewels,

DOn;t think of it as the nclex, nclex much harder and more physiological and anatomy and medications. The crne is psychosoicial but I found that most international nurses faulted at the community health section. I would read over community health nursing: a canadian perspective by stamler and yu. There are questions about the canadian health care system from what i remember. Just remember that it is provicially administrated etc.

hope this helps

you dont mind the high cost of living here in toronto?

The Lippincott and Mosby's Prep guide were really helpful for me because of the practice questions and rationales. I found the Mosby's comprehensive review a bit technical.. you can also try the questions in that book though..
