There are rumors that interviewers in Manila are really hard to please and gives bad ratings. How true is this? Who has tried taking IELTS in Manila and Cebu? How was it?

In my opinion, it doesn't matter if you take it in Manila or Cebu, as long as you are prepared for it, especially in the Speaking part. I have been with 5 interviewers. Some are serious, some are easy to get along with. Just be prepared, understand and answer the questions approriately. (There's no right and wrong asnwers here.) Goodluck.

just be yourself! its just a normal conversation between two people,but one thing i notice when i took ielts in 2006 its that the filipino examiner is much more scripted than the true british examiner..why did i say that?i just took the ielts again this year here in dubai because my old one is expired already and this british lady ( who is my examiner at that time) really make me feel at ease,as if im not on a speaking exam at all!by the way good luck to you!

I agree with yetski, it doesn't matter where you will take the exam, although I had a friend who scheduled hers in Baguio for the same reason you stated above.

Anyway, I took mine last March 1st and the interviewer was really nice and she had made me feel at ease as soon as we started! I think her name was Caroline or Carol... well, moving on, as yetski said, it's just a normal conversation between two people so just be confident and organize your thoughts whenever you respond to the questions. That way you won't be left groping for words or phrases which in turn will make you feel frustrated and unable to answer.

It was just a plain rumor. Almost all of my batchmates who took the IELTS scored 7 and above in here manila. =p
