ideas about literature review

Published

I am an undergraduate nursing student from Malta. I am currently doing my dissertation which involves a literature review of a particular nursing skill and I have to formulate a question using PICO. I am currently having problems in thinking about a nursing skill which involves a comparison in it. Can you help me please? Thank you

Here is an example I just thought of:

In patients who are bed ridden, will turning the patient every two hours help to prevent pressure ulcers compared to those who are turned at the beginning of each shift?

P= Patients who are bed ridden

I= Turning every two hours

C= Patient’s turned at the beginning of each shift

O= This will be in the research you conduct. Is it proven that turning a patient every two hours as opposed to turning patients at the beginning of each shift aids in preventing pressure ulcers?

Remember…in most research projects, there needs to be a control group (The ones who do not receive the experimental treatment) and the experimental group (Those who receive the experimental treatment). The PICO simply ensures that when you ask the question, both groups are addressed.

Good luck.

Thank you ParkerBeanCurd for your help
