ICP

Questions on ICP just to make sure I am understanding this properly:

1. in early stage ICP the bp is normal to slightly increased, and in late stage Cushings Triad occurs with the increased BP etc, then shortly, right before death the body's BP drops as compensatory mechanisms fail. Is this correct?

2. we give dopamine to vasodilate and increase CPP in brain, right? as in early to mid-stage? NOT because of hypOtension in body?

I'd like clarity as I am new and was told that we give dopamine because the BODY's bp would decrease...but if the brain is herniating, carotid supply is occluded, and perfusion is at a near stand still in the brain (with decreased CPP and INC icp), that would make sense to me that the body's blood pressure would be high...not low (unless there was a loss of volume but i'm not going to make this any more difficult). Please help, very appreciated.

Thank you.
