I'm sorry if it's long, lol :)

I really don't know where to begin, I guess my story on how I became EXTREMELY interested in being an ACNP. When I was little, probably around 3, I was already taking care of my grandfather, whom wasn't doing good at all. My grandmother would put his pills in a medicine cup and give me a glass of water and I would take it in to him. My grandmother gave me her stethoscope, and I would listen to his heart. That's when my love for the medical field started, and it only grew ever since. My grandmother owned a medical book, and when I learned to read, I was CONSTANTLY reading that book. Of course, some of it I didn't understand, but the more I read, the more I did understand. Eventually I was 'diagnosing' myself, and almost hitting it right on the nail. My doctor would be extremely surprised at how much I knew, and eventually started calling me Dr. Amber. I got older, and my first choice was to be a doctor. I didn't know what I wanted to specialize in, I didn't even know doctors could specialize, I thought a doctor was a doctor. My doctor was supporting my decision naturally, and finally, one day I had it figured out, my Junior year in high school, I was researching jobs in nursing. At first, I found out about the title Nurse Specialist. I really liked that idea, because it was an Advanced Practice Nurse. For a while, I was gung- ho on that idea, until I met my dermatologist, whom is a Nurse Practitioner working under a doctor. She prescribed my Doxycycline, and she diagnosed me with acne, which was obvious, and I thought "I really like this." So I asked her about it, and she explained what a Nurse Practitioner is. I was already interested in the ICU, so I started looking up Nurse Practitioner jobs that dealt with the ICU. I found Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. I was extremely excited when I found this title, and I kept researching it and researching it. It is my dream job!

I have an idea of where I want to get my undergraduate and graduate college at- Bowling Green State University for my undergrad, and University of Cincinnati for my graduate. University of Cincinnati has a Masters degree and Post Masters Certificate in ACNP.

So my question is, are any of you ACNP's? What should I expect?
