I passed HESI first try, here's my suggestions

Nursing Students HESI

Published

I've never posted on this board, but I got SO MUCH great information from ya'll about my Exit RN Hesi. I passed with a 958! One of the most exciting days ever!

Here are my suggestions

TEST DAY

1. Do a quick review an hour before with your friend (s) of things you already KNOW well. Lab values, basic assessment stuff (this was all over it!)... just talk through things you know. Eat a good break fast or lunch somewhere. Socialize!

2. When you start, READ the questions WELL. If you don't know the answer, use Maslow's/ABCs/safety/lease invasive

****(kaplan!!! Read the kaplan strategies they saved my LIFE on this test!!!!)**** this test is MORE RANDOM STUFF THAN YOU CAN IMAGINE! Studying content only will not help you pass by itself. The meds were random, info was random...... You HAVE TO BE 100% prepared with testing strategy to make it through this!!

3. When you feel like you have answered 80/81 questions wrong halfway through, just keep going. I thought I failed miserably. I literally was crying. Just keep trucking and don't get in a hurry

REVIEWING:

My sources were:

1. QUESTIONS!!! I did a jillion practice questions (probably 4000 or more). I used my best grade HESI practice, Prep-U (our school bought this, I thought it was OK. Would not have paid for it myself), kaplan Q bank app on my phone (free!). I READ THE RATIONALES!! I always printed the questions/rationales. I highlighted all over the question/rationales, took notes, made them colorful. Just really tried to review the heck out of those rationales!!

2. HURST REVIEW!!!!! I did my weak areas first. I did them, made note cards, and listened to the lectures on my phone will driving, walking, anything! Just listen to them and you will pick up little things that will help you on your test!

3. KAPLAN!!! Not the info, just the testing strategy! It will save you!!!!

I should point out that I am NOT an A student and I have NOT been the most committed student until the past 3 months. I studied like crazy for this exam! I know not everyone has to, but I did! 8 hours a day 5 days a week for the last month or so.

Good luck! If I can do it so can you. I hope this helps someone!!! YOU CAN DO IT, IF YOU PUT THE TIME AND EFFORT IN!
