Specializes in labor and delivery.

Where you work and why you chose it? I work in labor and delivery, it was the 1st place that offered me a job.

Why did you pick Nursing? this is a second career, I got hurt on the job in my 1st career and wanted to try something new and interesting-also something that I thought would be easy to get a job.

What are your typical duties as an RN? Assess the pt including vital signs, ask abt pain level, what are their plans for dealing with pain, ck fetal heart rate, and contractions, keep an eye on the strip, call the midwife or doctor if needed, assist with pushing, assess baby and mom after birth, recover both of them and hand them off to postpartum.

What educational preparation did you have to go through? I have an ABSN, then I had 6 months orientation which included NRP, I also have BLS.

Any other certification you might have? Above.

HOw many years have you been practicing? Not quite 2 years.

How many years have you put in at your current employer? I have with my current employer for 7 months.

Pro's of being a RN? Steady job, feeling like you really made a difference in someone's life, the pay isn't bad, I''ve made some wonderful friends.

Con's of being an RN? My first year I was at a hospital where nurses eat their young. It was dreadful, I am so thankful for my present job. I also was working 7p-7a, thought I was gonna die. Worked all holidays and crazy hours. Now, I am working some holidays and work 8 hr evening shift.

THanks so much i really appreciate it..:yeah:
