I need advice!

Nursing Students LPN-RN

Published

Hi there,

Just wanted to get feedback on a my current situation. I am moving from Ca to Tennessee in August, for the sole purpose to go to nursing school. I am currently taking my rn pre-reqs online through a college in Arizona, California's school systems is HORRIBLE right now. I have a few RN programs I plan to apply for that start in the Fall of 2011. I was considering applying to a LPN program for this Fall, in case I dont get into a RN program fall 2011. I guess I dont want to put all my eggs in one basket and shoot for getting into a RN program my first round. Does this make sense? At least Id have my lpn to fall back on and gain experience in case I dont get in when I want. Any tips, advice etc. would be greatly appreciated. Im getting flustered and need a direction. Thanks:)

It always makes sense to get experience and knowledge. The decision on whether to go to LVN before your RN is your choice. If income and experience is a consideration, go for the lVN/LPN license and then enter as an advance nursing student in an ADN or BSN program or a program designed for LVN to BSN--if that works for you. If you decide to wait for the RN program or go for the LVN route, you can start reading the books and taking notes. The best time to learn is when you are not under the stress of nursing school. :redpinkhe
