Ok, I have a burning question and I was wondering if anyone has gone through a similar situation.
I graduate from my program May 14th, 2010, I am the mother of 2 adult sons who live on their own, and I also have an 8 year old son. I am worried about having a job when I graduate.
I live in the Twin Cities (downtown MPLS) and I know the job market is pretty tight here. I am willing to work in LTC to begin with to gain experience, but I am afraid I might not be able to find a job as a GN even there. I have decided, if I can, to move for a job. I have been hearing good things about NG/plenty of work in TX, but here is the dilemma....I have an 8 year old son who is Autistic, high functioning, but he has his quirks :) . My biggest fear is getting a great job, moving and then scrambling to find someone I could trust to watch him. Or do I take my chances and stick around here, hoping to find a job (my oldest son is willing to watch his little brother if I get a NOC position, and if I get a day position, I have one of my son's classroom aides that takes him early and brings him to school with him).
Is there anyone out there that has been in a similar situation?
Any advice would be appreciated and welcome!
Thanks in advance & Happy New Year!
Cheers!

Sounds like a tough spot.... I would stick around and job hunt for a while where you are at, before making any major changes. You never know, you might get lucky, especially if you are willing to work in LTC
