Congradulations on getting into Bethune-Cookman Fall '2012. I considered Bethune-Cookman but was scared of the high tuition rate and the student loans. Another deterant was the fact I was a white male and so I thought it may be a little ackward for me at the program. Neverthless if you donot mind sharing this with me let me know. Not to pry into your business, but are you taking out loans or do you qualify for scholarships and grants?Do you know the deadline for the next admission for Spring semester? Sorry if my questions are intrusive. I was in a ADN program at a local Community College but bombed out my first semester. I thought I may give a BSN a try.
I'm happy to answer any questions for you.
1. Yes, the tuition is high. That was and is a concern of mine. BUT there are quite a few nursing scholarships at Bethune, and I applied for university merit scholarship. I haven't been awarded yet, but I'm hoping I can get everying covered. I am taking out direct loans as well.
2. The fact that you are a white male wouldnt be an issue. As a black female, i can tell you right now that i would have no issue being friends with you. I have been the only black person in many of my classes at a predominately white college. I COMPLETELY understand your apprehension. Trust me, if you're not socially retarded, you will make friends and people will LOVE you. (you might even have to beat some girls off with a stick. lol)
3. Im not sure what the deadline for spring semester is. I had to ask the nursing school secretary the deadline for the fall application. the nursing school website is not up to date. i would call the school of nursing for more info.
4. I would go for it. you gotta be in it to win it! :)
Thank you very much, Darkstar1485. Your answers have very helpful and I appreciate your responces. When I was in my ADN program being socially was a little hard for me, but my absence from he program has cured my social ills, so I am not as socially retarded as I once was.( lol it was a painful growing experience) I am ready to tackle a BSN program and Bethune-Cookman may be for me. Hopefully, they choose me next semester. Keep me posted on your progress.
