Hello,
I applied to one university this time around and I was denied admission. So now I am currently looking for other programs that offer ABSN/MEPN/CNL programs. I also wanted to add that my GPA isn't too high so I'm open to applying to schools that don't have a high impact. Also, due to my living situations I am very limited on distance and can do any neighboring programs to California. I currently live in the San Francisco Bay Area, California. Thank you!

Hey! Have you completed all of your pre-reqs? Sometimes that makes a difference, if you have most of if not all of the main science classes completed...and getting an A or B will help. What about volunteer/clinical experience? If you have a lot, keep doing it....if not add some or do more volunteering in a clinical setting for your next application, and add a letter of reference too. As far as other programs, the Samuel Merritt ABSN has a bunch of locations in the area and they also have Entry Level Masters. Then there is the ABSN in Stanislaus. UC Davis MEPN. SF STATE ELM. You could check out second Bachelor's if that interests you, SF STATE or SJSTATE or Sac State. I think just applying again to a few places, you'll probably get in. Maybe even apply to the same one again. Good Luck!
Thank you so much for your response! I do have all of my pre-reqs done and have a BS in Health Sciences. I applied to USF (Ca) for their CNL program, however I was not accepted. I don't have much volunteer experience, just a couple of events from two different organizations. I will try to add that on! As far as my letters of recommendations, I had two and they were really great ones but it wasn't enough for my application. I think for now I just have to try to raise my GPA and stay optimistic about my chances. I just feel a little discouraged because of my age I was told by others to try to apply to programs that aren't as impacted since I live in a competitive state for nursing careers. I was also told to try to apply to programs that are "for profit" because I would most likely be accepted to those.

Im also from the Bay. I applied to ADN, absn and ELMSN (MEPN) programs I qualified for. My overall gpa isnt the greatest but my last 60 units is well over 3.4
I would suggest looking at each schools qualifications and only apply for schools you actually qualify for. Also, these schools really love volunteer experience! So if you dont already have clinical experience, I would suggest volunteering at a clinic or hospital.
as for age, thats not an issue at all. I knew a woman in her 50s that was in Samuel Merritt's Absn program
So look around, explore all options and even look in Central Valley (fresno, bakerfield, etc) and even SoCal.
Stay optimistic. I applied to 5 schools and was declined. However I applied to SFSU ELM program and was accepted and am currently in my first semester, so you'll make it :)
