I feel so left behind

Nurses Career Support

Published

I graduated from nursing school and pass the licensure exam late 2007. It was of the same year that my dad died.

I decided to apply in a call center to support my family and set aside my plans for a head start in the nursing field . It took me 3 years to run out of my work to get back on track.

I thought i will be relieved with the feeling that finally I can pursue my life long dream but fear haunts me, for I never know how to begin in the first place. I fear that I may not be accepted if if a prospective employer would see that I am not a fresh grad nor an experienced nurse.

I fear that I might not give the care and safety my patients deserve.

I feel so left behind. :crying2: I hope that you guys can give me some advice on what topics do i need to brush up on and prioritize.

Thanks in advance.

Is there an RN refresher course in your area? What type of job

in nursing are you interested in and what specialty?

Do not be discouraged. You made the right decisions for yourself

and your family at a stressful time. You are a responsible and

caring person. Try to network with nurses and other team members

in field you are interested in. Taking a refresher which will help you

regain confidence in providing safe care. The bookstores have lots

of nursing review books which are updated.

You can have a wonderful career, just take a few steps to

get right back in the field......
