am I crazy

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

I waa just wondering if this is to many classes to take on. I was planning 3-4 classes on campus during the week. 1-2 on weekend and 1-2 online. So I was just wondering is it to much? I also have two kids a hubby and a home. Will it be too much on me? I am just trying to plan ahead am not sure yet when I will start school. Either spring or fall 09. The sooner the better. Also anyone who has done online classes which ones are the easiest and which are the hardest? I was thinking about eng intro to ethics or psychology to take online but am not sure what to do. I am just trying to focus and make sure I have everything planned perfectly before I even apply to school. Well sorry for the rant. Any advice and input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks to all in advance.

it depends on how determined you are. i have friends who do 5-6 classes per semester and make A's and B's. (ps they dont sleep, there up all night studying).

as for online classes (i personnally rather one on one teaching style). im in a online class right now becuz my school doesnt have a ground teacher and i absolutely hate it. you get 3 times the work load compare to going on campus.

but you can do it , it's doable. wish you all the best in your decision.

If you're self-motivated and have the time. I would go for it!

Just study, study, study!:D

Online classes, just like on campus classes, depend on the teacher. Some online classes are much harder and the instructor piles on the work and others are a cakewalk. While I was doing my pre-reqs I was taking around 22 credits a term and able to pull straight A's. But I didn't work and don't have kids - and all I did was study. It is all in what you are able to do with your own schedule and class load. My advice is if you have never gone to college don't take too much at once - start out with a normal load and then next term add classes if you feel you can handle it. Better to not take too many classes and feel you can handle more than to take too many classes and struggle through them. Pre-Reqs are very important to your nursing school success. Things like A&P and Chemistry - you not only need to pass but you need to FULLY understand them to be successful in nursing school. So be sure you aren't taking too many classes when you are taking those - they are really important in the future. Good luck

I'm a big fan of online classes. It's more self paced. As for that many classes. ... ... ... whew! Depends. I totally could see you doing 6 classes (as long as they are sciences), but 8?!?!?!?? That sounds crazy, even to me (and I am always told that I am crazy taking the amount that I take, which then again, I work 40 hours a week). You might burn yourself out. But if you really want to try it, go ahead. I would just keep in mind what the dates are for dropping the class in case you find out it is too much to handle. But if you can do it, kudos to you! I'm doing 5, one of them being chem. :)

Don't think that I would take that many myself but who am I to stop you!! I work, but work from home and don't have any kids and I even find it tough to take 5 or more classes.

As far as online classes...I love them!!!! I have gotten an A in every single online class that I have taken. I have taken General Psychology, Child and Lifespan Development, Art Appreciation, and Medical Terminology. They were all equally easy for me. The Art Appreciation was even easier than the classroom version (I had taken it in classroom and goofed off and got a C so I retook it and got an A).

Online classes are not my favorite. In my past experience online classes seem like more busy work not necessarily study time. The load you are taking on does seem a bit heavy but it really depends on what classes you are taking on campus and via the internet. A teacher once mentioned that a good equation for study time for a class is: if a class is worth 3 credits then you will spend about 6 hours a week studying for it. Basically just double the credit hours and that will equal your study time. I only find this to be true with science classes like ap, micro and chem. The rest like psychology and human development didn't require that much study time. Good luck with your studies :-)

Are these thru different colleges? When I went to school the first time there was a limit to how many units you were allowed to take a quarter. Going beyond that required permission from a counselor.

You should CLEP some of those courses if you can. I did and saved a ton of $$ and time.

Good to CLEP:

English (check your college to see if you have to do English Composition or Freshman College Comp)

Intro to Psychology - an easy CLEP

Intro to Sociology

Principles of Management

US History 1
