how do I become an L.A county nurse?

i'd like to become a public health nurse in l.a county so i wondering if anyone knows the most effective way of getting my application in? I was told that doing it online was useless. if you've ever worked for the county, how did you get your foot in the door?

Why not drop by the health center in the area where you want to work and see if the DON or Supervising PHN is in?

If you have any friends already working in a health center, that always helps. If not, drop in. NOthing like the personal touch, the direct approach.
