Huntington hospital RN new grad May 2023

Published

Hi, anyone applied to their Postpartum/labor-delivery unit? Any insight about these units?

Hi! I applied to both Family Birth Center/ L&D, and General New Grad RN Residency program at Huntington Hospital. I interviewed for both positions, and got job offered on PCA-Float Pool RN team starting in May 15, 2023! Anyone else is starting? Any tips or advice would be appreciated, especially if anyone has experience  working as Float Pool RN!

Hi, I also applied but I'm still waiting for their response. Have you heard back from their L& D unit? For your float pool offer, Did they give you the offer through email or call?

Hi! yes I heard back from L&D hiring manager via phone few days ago (one week after applying). The manager was aware that I interviewed and was job offered for 'float pool RN', she advised me to accept it since L&D has lots of internal candidates who completed the general new grad residency program already, and the process may take a while to select the candidates. I didn't want to risk it and turn down the first offer and not get called back for L&D, even though L&D was my top choice! but looks like whatever position we start with, later we can internally transfer to other departments after a year.

For the float pool RN, I got job offered both through phone call and email the next day I interviewed. I would say the process was alot faster and smoother. Did you also apply to the New Grad residency program in addition to L&D/post-partum?

Thank you for the information. I knew it's going to be very competitive to get into L&D. If they have so many internal candidates, why did they decided to interview the non-internal applicants?

I did applied to the med-surg one and mother baby unit. I also got an interview for mother baby unit. It's been a week already and I haven't heard back from them. For the med-surg application , they asked to interview with the ER. I don't know how they place me there. I didn't show interest in working there so I wasn't get selected.

Anyway. Congratulations for getting into Huntington.

You're very welcome! I think they would still consider external New Grads for L&D even though they have internals, that's why they are interviewing. in my case I couldn't risk it since the other offer was only valid for 24 hrs, but hopefully you get into the department you like, sending you all the positive vibes! Good luck??

True, I get you. I think I would do the same if I were in your situation. You can still transfer to L&D later after a year. Hope I get into L& D and see you around ?

Thank you

Yesss hopefully I see you in orientations! Good luck on everything ??

Hi!! I'm not sure how to send a PM, but I got an interview for HH's mother-baby unit and was wondering if there was any prep advice you had for the interview. 🙂
