HS Student interested in Nursing

Published

Hey Nursing Students,

I'm currently a senior in high school and as of now, it's application season. I'm interested in the field of nursing, and I want to get some advice from those who've been through the path I have. I plan on applying to SFSU, SJSU, CSULB, SDSU, USF, Dominican University, and Samuel Meritt University and some other UCs. I understand that nursing at states are VERY competitive and the last three nursing schools are private so they're VERY expensive. I was wondering if I can even make it into Nursing school with a 3.42 unweighted gpa and a 3.68 weighted gpa. I retook my ACT but my first score was a 23. I have tons of experience working at a hospital environment and is in other activities that include being an advocate for mental/public health in my high school. I also want to become a doctor too but my main calling is a nurse so I thought about going through nursing school and if that doesn't work, I'll apply to medical school.

For those of you who got accepted into the UC Irvine Nursing School, how was that? What was your GPA and SAT/ACT?

For anyone, what was your gpa in high school entering nursing school? What advice would you give your younger self?

Thanks! All responses are appreciated
