How do you say it?

This is probably a silly question...but for those of you who speak the word/phrase regularly, how do you say CRNA? Do you just say the letters? "CRNA" or do you sound out the acronym or do you say nurse anesthetist?

And am I pronouncing "anesthetist" right...ann-es-thet-ist?

Sorry, some stupid questions but I see it online so much but haven't ever really had to speak any of it.

yes. You just spell out the letters... C R N A. Its an accronym for certified registered nurse anesthetist. Like when u say RN.

You pronounce the letters "CRNA", you don't sound out the acronym. And the anesthetist is pronounced...a-nes-the-tist.

Our school encourages us to use the term nurse anesthetist when dealing with the public, but around the hospital staff it is always I am a CRNA/SRNA.

Ha. That's funny. I can just picture you walking around saying "I want to be a "crena"! :D That made me smile, bless your heart. I've also had diffuculties pronouncing anesthetist...that is a toughie.

hehehe... "creena hopeful"

I would like to become a nurse anesthetist someday. It disturbs me that from what I've seen on YouTube, almost no one in the field knows how to pronounce their job title! http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=anesthetist

I keep hearing

a-nes-di-dist

a-nes-ti-tist

Say anesthesia. AnesTHEsia. THE, as in theology or thesaurus.

Say anesthetist. "AnesTEHtist." No! It's not TEH, it's THE.

By the way, my parents are immigrants and my first language was not English. Because I didn't want people to look down on me, I became a stickler for proper spelling, grammar, and pronunciation. How is it that such highly educated and respected individuals can't even say their job title correctly?
