I just got admitted to the After Degree program in Alberta, and I'm wondering if I'll even be able to get a job after I graduate in 2 years?

Is there anything I can do to make me a better candidate after I graduate?

Thank you for your help!!

Terrible in AB, especially since oil has plummeted. Not likely to improve in 2 years or in 5 years. AHS will continue to cut positions.

Unless you don't mind relocating, working casual with no guaranteed hours, or working rural where nurses are needed, I would advise against pursuing a nursing degree. Full time jobs in the large cities are scarce for new grads.

So from what you're saying, if I'm willing to work rural and relocate then I should be fine?

Depends on your definition of fine. There are jobs in rural areas. Hours vary, but often you can end up working full time. You may need to accept any work you can find.

An education alone is not enough to get a new grad's resume looked at in a competetive job market. Suggest you either work or volunteer in healthcare related areas, starting now and continue until you have graduated, are licensed and employed as a nurse.
