My program of interest is a PT RN program, two evenings a week from 6-7:30 ish and clinicals on saturdays (probably all day). Credit wise it goes something like this: Fall-8cr, Spring-2cr, Summer-8cr, Fall-2cr etc., which i can only assume means that classes drag out between two semesters. The program is 2.5 yrs long.
I currently work full time 40/hrs a week, and also have family comittments (2 yo/hubs/housework). I have been able to study a max of 25 hrs a week in addition to family and work comittments for my pre-req classes. I am flying through my CNA training without a hitch (it seems to be pretty basic and is coming as second nature to me, which is great!) and am getting A's in my two other classes Growth and Development and Intro to Healthcare (which, to their credit, are pretty much easy A courses if you study so it's not really like I'm some sort of genius). I feel confident in that I am acing my courses and am in the process of being promoted at work despite my juggle with class and work and family. However I don't want to have false confidence because I know nursing school is a WHOLE other beast.
As current student nurses, do you feel that this is sufficient time to do well in the above described PT Nursing program? I would be in class or clinicals about 15 hours/wk it seems and so that would leave 10 hours outside of class for study.
