The duties of the RN are similiar to those in the hospital setting. They supervise the LPNs and CNAs, they are in charge, and they give meds, assess, and observe. For the most part, there will be more patients assigned to a nurse in a nursing home than in a hospital... The nursing home is a little more laid back, but there can be lots of paper work and there is more responsibility. The RN is responsbile for her patients and the patients of the LPN as well. When a patient is in distress guess who has to assess the patient and determine if they go out to the hospital?;)
