How much experience for going PRN?

Here's my background... I was an ICU nurse for a little over 2 years. Since January, I worked as a PRN fill-in for inpatient acutes at my hospital, maybe a few times a month give or take. Two months ago I started working full-time in inpatient acutes at a much larger hospital within the system. The transition was easy and my orientation was cut short since I already knew a lot of the basics.

Since going full-time, clearly I'm learning a lot more about dialysis, troubleshooting the machine, monitoring patients, etc. I'm learning something new every day so I know I'm not ready to "fly solo" just yet. But I'm wondering how much experience working full-time should one have before looking into a PRN/Per Diem job? I saw a job posting With Fresenius that only "preferred" dialysis experience, which seemed odd for a Per Diem position but I don't know if that's not unheard of. Also, I've only ever done acutes. I've heard the Chronics world is much different. Should I stick with acutes for side work or is it not too hard of a change?

Thanks!

After reading some other posts, I thought I should clarify... I don't work for a company that fills contracts. My hospital has it's own dialysis department so we are never "alone". So when I have issues, I can call for help. I'm asking about how much experience you need before working completely independently. Also, how much orientation do you see PRN staff getting? I mean, there must be something if nothing else but to cover company P&P.
